Provided consultancy on, and evaluation of, methods by which a reporting
capability could be provided for HMIP's IPCIS system, which tracks the
application and granting of permissions to use, create and/or store hazardous
pollutants.
A major nation-wide project to procure a software solution to support the
capture, storage, analysis and presentation of all information relating to the
management of water quality and resources to provide 8 regional data
warehouses for the Environment Agency (then known as the National Rivers
Authority). Responsible for the specification of business and user requirements,
with particular responsibility for the graphical user interface (GUI) and
Geographic Information System (GIS) aspects of the system, and production of a
logical data model using IEW and Oracle Case.
Returned to implement the system once the supplier had been selected. Produced
detailed user requirements for the system. Prepared documents on
migration and interfacing of the system with data from historical and ongoing
systems. Ran training and workshop sessions for users and IT personnel on
how the system worked and how to map across data from existing systems to the
new system. Lead a team of 16 users/developers producing specifications,
designs, and applications to provide the user functionality required.
