As Design Authority of the multi-million pound Supergoal project, we were
responsible for analysis of user requirements, design of the implementation, team
leading, project planning, work assignment, quality, standards etc. This
application is responsible for the scheduling of electricity generation
throughout England and Wales.
Provided Business Analysis for National Grid's Strategic Development Group
to develop strategies for the maintenance of existing applications and the
development of new applications and/or enhancements. This included producing a
detailed CASE-tool model of all National Grid's core scheduling and planning
applications and the design of an Oracle database recording full details of all
applications and machines.

A project to enhance the meter reading scheduling, routing and
planning, to provide more efficient routes and assist in management of the
process. This included writing the user requirements, co-ordinating the designs
of several internal and external suppliers of software products, and developing
the new business processes and training fro the users. The project integrated
both IBM mainframe software and PC applications.
Undertook the cleaning up and reloading of the current meter
reading schedules. This involved the design and implementation of several items of
specialised software, and the evaluation and purchase of PC packages to perform
address checking and geographical representations from external suppliers. It also
required the recruitment, training and setting up of two separate teams of
temporary staff to perform the conversion work.
